Bolo Indya is a short knowledge videos sharing platform in vernacular language. This Gurugram-based regional language short-video platform Bolo Indya claims to focus on content commerce for services unlike other short-video apps, which are being used for content commerce for brands.

Growth Story of Bolo Indya

Since the ban on Chinese apps from Google Play Store and Apple App Store, Bolo Indya has gained massive traction in the market. Bolo Indya had about 4.8 Lakh monthly active users, but now it has grown by nearly 7x to having 32.3 Lakh monthly users. Similarly, it had 2.9 Lakh active users, but now this has gone up to a staggering 28.8 Lakh Daily active users. In terms of time spent by users, Bolo Indya has grown to 62 minutes from an average of 39 minutes per day.

“We have witnessed a much higher traction as compared to what we saw during the lockdown. It has been pretty good for us, and we respect the sentiments of people and the decision made by the government”,says Varun Saxena.


Number of Lead Investors 

Bolo Indya is funded by ah! Ventures which is India’s only curated, sector agnostic and the largest fundraising platform for early stage startups raising funds up to 10 MN USD.

Number of Funding Rounds 

It has raised one round. This was a Seed round raised on Aug 22, 2019.

Homegrown video apps such as Trell, Bolo Indya and Roposo have seen users increase as well as spend more time on their platforms on the back of a host of favourable factors, including higher venture capital interest, a surge in video consumption during the lockdown and growing anti-China sentiment.
